Apple Launches iOS 14.7 with MagSafe Battery Support

Today, Apple has released iOS 14.7 on all supported iPhones, although it hasn’t yet sent the corresponding iPadOS 14.7 update to its tablets, which is strange, as they usually come out together. Anyway, by the time you read this, the iPadOS 14.7 update may already be on the way, but that wasn’t the case at the time of writing.

iOS 14.7 supports the MagSafe battery that the company quietly released a few days ago. This is compatible with the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max.

The new software also introduces an Apple Card Family feature that allows you to combine credit limits and share a co-ownership account with an existing Apple Card user, and gives the Home app the ability to manage timers on the HomePod. In addition, the Weather and Maps apps get air quality information for Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea and Spain. Finally, the Podcasts library now allows you to choose to see all shows or only the shows being watched.

The update also includes a bunch of bug fixes, as you’d expect, regarding the Share Missing Playlist menu option in Apple Music, Dolby Atmos, and Apple Music lossless audio playback stopping unexpectedly, with a battery service message disappearing after restarting iPhone 11 models and braille screens displaying invalid information when writing email messages.

It’s definitely not the biggest of the updates, but it’s probably good enough to install it as soon as you can. To do this, simply go to Settings> General> Software Update on your iPhone if it hasn’t already asked you to update.
