Facebook to invest more than a billion dollars for creators on Facebook and Instagram

This afternoon, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in a Post that Facebook will create new programs to invest more than a billion dollars to incentivize creators to create content for Facebook and Instagram. The company seems to be making efforts to keep creators and attract users to the platforms.

We want to create the best platforms for millions of creators to make a living, which is why we are creating new programs to invest more than a billion dollars to reward creators for the great content they create on Facebook and Instagram until 2022. Investing in creators is not new to us, but I am delighted to extend this work over time. More details soon.

Facebook’s newsroom added more details about the announcement.

This investment will include new bonus programs that compensate eligible creators for reaching certain milestones when using our creation and monetization tools. We will also provide seed funding to creators to produce their content. Our goal is to help as many creators as possible find lasting and long-term success on our applications.

The bonuses are new and a new place in the Instagram app will arrive this summer where they can see what bonuses they can earn. Currently, bonuses are available for creators who sign up to place ads in their live broadcasts, and Stars bonuses will begin to be offered to a selected group of players for reaching specific “Stars” milestones.

The first set of bonuses for Instagram users will only be offered by invitation. Creators are incentivized to put IGTV ads in their videos and can also earn bonuses by reaching badge milestones in live videos. A bonus for reels will be launched this summer where creators will be able to earn bonuses for publishing reels.

Facebook and Instagram have felt the impact of TikTok’s exponential growth in recent years. The company hopes to regain some of the engagement (and advertising revenue) by encouraging users to create original content for the platforms.
