Honor will launch the Magic3 smartphone on August 1st, as previously confirmed. The device will be among the first smartphones with a Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset, and thanks to a new video on Weibo, we also know that it will have a dual selfie camera in a pill-shaped perforation hole.
The short 20-second clip is an advertisement broadcast on one of the state television channels CCTV5, supporting Chinese athletes, traveling to Tokyo for the Olympic Games. We can only see the phone from the front and we can distinguish a power key and the volume toggle on the right side, as well as a 2.5D curved glass above the OLED panel.
There’s a bit of room between the camera’s two lenses, suggesting a 3D ToF sensor for facial recognition and better selfie cameras – Honor probably learned this technology from Huawei’s P40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro series. After all, they are now completely independent of one another and do not borrow ideas from one another at all.
