Contrary to a recent report claiming that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will “settle” for a more refined version of the current 108MP ISOCELL HM3 sensor, the new one states that the phone will indeed feature a 200MP main camera. IT is also pointing to a January 2022 release.
The report comes from a Korean publication citing various industry sources. And according to these sources, Olympus (the Japanese camera manufacturer) has contacted Samsung to look for a partnership. Apparently, Samsung has agreed to the terms and the Galaxy S22 Ultra will feature a 5-lenses, 200MP, Olympus-branded camera.
The report also suggests that S Pen support is in order, but we wonder if it would be included in the package as it’s not exactly a new feature. The current Galaxy S21 Ultra also supports the S Pen.
In any case, we will keep our ears open because we receive conflicting reports and nothing is certain at the moment. Plus, the Galaxy S22 isn’t expected to be announced until next year.
