One of the latest privacy-related features of WhatsApp is the disappearance of messages, which is already available on Android and will arrive very soon for iOS users as well. The feature is reportedly being tested on a beta version of the app, but it surely won’t be long before it reaches the final version of IOS.

The messages that disappear are not just about texts. There is also the media that disappears, which leaves as soon as the recipient opens it. It’s like one of those disappearing videos and photos, which you can send into Instagram’s chat. The feature is called “view once” and must be available to both parties. SMS that disappear, on the other hand, take 7 days before disappearing.
There is a dedicated timer in the caption input field when sending media content and the sender receives a notification once the recipient has viewed the photo/video message. However, nothing prevents the recipient from taking a screenshot before the message disappears.
